Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata
4.0
Picked up this collection of short stories in the local bookstore after having enjoyed reading both Convenience Store Woman and Earthlings. I loved this format of quick short stories, which really compliment Murata's writing. They were all absolutely absurd and off-the-wall, as I've come to expect. My favourites were definitely the title story Life Ceremony and Hatchling. Hatchling really spoke to me personally. A Summer Night's Kiss was incredibly sweet and unexpected. And similarly Lover on the Breeze was unexpected... and freaking hilarious. I really recommend giving Sayaka Murata a try, and I would suggest reading this collection before Earthlings.
