I never got really into this book. I didn't want to stay up all night reading it, or want to keep it by my side throughout the day. I really wish I could have gotten more into it, as I really do love the story and characters. I don't know what was stopping me.
I've never read Mead's Vampire Academy series, and I don't plan to. So, feel free to tell me all about it, as I'd love to know a bit of backstory, but I'm fine without it.
I really enjoyed the setting for this book. I must admit that at first I thought they were going to Palm Springs, Florida, not California. Lets pretend that didn't happen though. The plot was not as exciting as I'd like. There were small developments over time, which I enjoyed learning about, but I wished there was more action and betrayal. I did quite like the twist at the end! I got to the part about Keith (who is a total assface) and thought that was the end, but didn't really believe it as to the amount of pages I had left. I was really surprised with the ending and I loved reading it. Probably one of the best parts of the book.
The characters are so lovely. My favorites are definitely Sydney, Adrian (<3) and Ms.Terwilliger. Sydney changed so much throughout the book, and I am really proud of her for that. I love how spunky she got, and she finally starts to stand up for herself! I hope she kicks some ass in the next book, and finally goes out with Adrian. Adrian made me laugh so much, and at the oddest times. My favorite line from him is his thing about his hands not doing manual labor. I wish I could meet him in real life and congratulate him on how much he changed into a better person who actually cares about how he effects other people. Finally, Ms. Terwilliger. She was so eccentric and fun, I'd love to have her as a teacher! Of course, the end made me glee so much. I can't wait to see what her role will be in the following books!
Overall I quite like this book and I can't wait for the next one!
Sorry for the super long wait, school has taken up a bunch of time. :C I want to read more....
