Hamilton: The Revolution by Jeremy McCarter, Lin-Manuel Miranda

5.0

I love this book as much as I love the soundtrack to this musical I've been longing to see. Everything about the book is beautiful - the old, traditional binding, printing, pages, and fonts. But, of course, the words trump everything else. If you've listened to or seen "In the Heights" or "Hamilton," you already know that Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius with words and with music. But here you get to see how such genius evolves. Reading the lyrics to the entire musical with explanatory footnotes is such a treat - seeing the inspiration, motivation, and historical tidbits. The essays between the lyrics are also a real treat. You get insight into how the play evolved, who was involved, and also lovely vignettes about the various people who played a role in the creation of this masterpiece.

If you haven't seen/heard "Hamilton" yet I definitely suggest you start there. If you have, you need to read this next!
