This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar
3.0
This was a story quite unlike anything I've ever read; not just because of the narration style and non-chronological timeline. The writing was very flowery, in a roundabout and abstract way at times. The timeline of the story is what makes the mystery and intrigue in the letters between the two main characters strong. From the beginning, reading it felt like a question in my head I kept searching for answers to.
From the parts I understood and got myself immersed in, I was amazed at the author's inventiveness and ability to build a story and characters in such a short amount of pages.
At the last 50 pages or so, the writing got a bit too abstract for me though. I feel like this is a book I should read multiple times in order to gain more understanding from it. I think there were parts that took the vagueness and roundabout writing a vit too far for me. Nonetheless, this one will stick with me for a bit.
