Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan

Hmmm I’m not sure how I felt about this one. I think I liked it? It was well written and told from the perspective of many different characters-keeping things exciting but also confusing at times. I kept waiting for the ball to drop and the storyline to get going, but it kinda flatlined. There was a fun little twist though and a friends to lovers theme (which is always a crowd pleaser.)

The Gresham family fortune is nonexistent, especially after the lavish wedding of sister Augie and the new hotel investment that was burnt to a crisp by a volcano. Rufus is tasked with marrying someone rich with a royal title to save the family from financial ruin. Only issue is he is in love with Eden, who has lived in a cottage on the Gresham estate for most of her life with her father. His mom has schemed to match make him with a lady of her choice, while sabotaging poor Eden. Sister Bea is up to no good. Rufus’s dad is in over his head, and Eden’s dad seems to be doing something sneaky. It’s a world wind of events that will keep you on your toes for sure!
