The Dissonance by Shaun Hamill

3.75

This book didn't grab me as much as I wanted it too, but it was interesting and I loved the character relationships. Hamill does a great job writing teenagers that feel like teenagers without feeling immature or annoying. There's plenty of teen emotional bullshit happening in the flashback sections but it didn't feel like the kind that usually has me rolling my eyes into the back of my head in a YA book. I do wish the emotional throughline of the book had gotten a bit more... something. It seems pretty clear what the themes are here, but it felt both understated and overstated. Bit odd!
