This was a heartbreaking and incredibly frustrating read. The story follows Rukshana Ali’s experience as a queer Bangladesh teen who must hide her authentic self (and girlfriend) from her Muslim family.
From her judgmental friends, confused girlfriend, and terrified parents, Rukshana experiences so much abuse in this book that it made me nauseous.
After all the terrible things her family did to her throughout this book, I felt that the resolution felt a little rushed and unrealistic. Culture and/or religion can be such a horrific combination.
