The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
4.0
I enjoyed this a lot, even though intergenerational sagas are never my favorite. It's well-written and all of the characters are interesting. I love that there is a trans character who is well-adjusted. A happy couple who never got married. I found it interesting, the theme of living multiple lives in one life. I can relate to that. Also to the heavy burden of carrying a secret and the price people pay for a new identity. The exploration of racism in the novel is subtle, but profound, affecting all of the characters whether they live in a small town in Louisiana, or a rich neighborhood in Los Angeles.
