A great gay male fantasy book, similar in execution to A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske. The characters are grown up and so is the setting, but it doesn't do itself a disservice by going into smut territory. It's just a good fantasy that happens to be about a gay protagonist, and that's really all a queer fan of the genre could ask for.
