"Knowing is cold, I suppose. Cold and distant. You know things with your mind. Understanding is different. It's warm. You understand things with your mind, yes, but also with your heart."

Well, what do you know. I was able to finish a book while sick 😂 This was our October read with the StoryGraph group I started a while back. @chainsawheartbooks and @igotbigbooks chose to join in this month! And what a banger of a book this was!
My Darling Dreadful Thing was such an unique read and had a lot of very interesting topics covered in the book. On one side, it speaks about mental health, childhood trauma, Schizophrenia etc, but also about bog corpses, spirit companions, séances etc! It was a dark book, with heavy topics, but it was never a struggle to get through or to understand etc. I flew through this book, even with all the horrific details and topics at hand (and trust me, there were a lot...)
What made this book extra enjoyable for me personally, is the fact is was set in the Netherlands, and so, as a person from Belgium (Flemish part) a lot of the words, names, etc were familiar to me!
I personally think this book is gorgeous. It is written exceptionally well, extremely beautiful and the dark atmosphere is brought so well, it was an absolute delight to read!
It was definitely worth ever star!
