The scope of Tolkiens world building is, to say the least, vast. The Unfinished Tales puts the world into motion and tells stories both intimate, factional and as chronicles. And the author is a master of every genre.
In itself it can be a bit chunky, but together with the other books it’s a fleshed out experience in Middle-earth. And as for quality, there is no one more thorough.
