Virgil & May: Get Ready to Cry! - 5 Stars!

This is my first time reading this author. I can honestly say that now, I'm a fan!

WED TO THE LICH is a dystopian romance centered on an arranged marriage between two different species: a Human and a Lich. What I know from being a huge Dungeons and Dragons fan as a kid is that Liches are VERY powerful. So, that in itself was reason enough to convince me to read this book.

Virgil is a Lich who is extremely lonely. Considered hideous in nature and repulsed by just about every species due to his looks, Virgil seeks an arranged marriage to a human because he seeks something most other Liches don't: companionship. He matches with May, a legally, aged-out, verbally abused orphan who is just looking for a safe space to land and belong. She weds Virgil and in spite of their differences, the two grow closer and share an epic love that transcends societal norms.

This book put me all in my feelings. We see the struggle of both characters; vastly "different" but both sharing the same insecurities and low self-esteem. Virgil and May learn to love themselves through one another and it’s absolutely beautiful.

I don't usually read shorts (novellas). But this one was definitely worth it! My only regret is that it wasn't longer! This is a sweet story you can get lost in and I will definitely read more of this author's work!

Happy reading!
