This supernatural Middle Grade is the perfect last-minute read for your Spooky Season! I utterly adored these characters and pray we get a second novel. ANOTHER KIND has all the elements I adore to see in what I consume; science fiction, characters of color, beautifully done queer rep, the found family trope, T4T relationship (sort of and I'm running with that), and a concept that will not let you let go once you start reading. I overall highly enjoyed this. The art style was stunning with a brilliantly selected color scheme. My only criticism is the use of the "Lizard Person" conspiracy. As someone who isn't Jewish it made me highly uncomfortable seeing this anti-semitic conspiracy played out in this children's novel. A Jewish reviewer on here also mentioned this in their review so I highly suggest going to read their thoughts. This isn't something I took stars away for but I think it would be wrong not to mention something that could possibly be very harmful and triggering to Jewish readers. At the end of the day, I believe this is a perfect book for fans of Stranger Things and RUNAWAYS (the graphic novels, not the show.)
