Twisted Devotion by Poppy St. John

3.5

This book has a lot of darker content [pulled from the authors website]:

This book contains graphic violence and sexual content. It also contains situations which may be triggering to some readers, such as: dub/non con, breathplay/choking, autassassinophilia, kidnapping, profanity, gunplay, and somnophilia.

This was one of those books that had an intriguing video pop up on my FYP and I decided to take the dive. From the start I really didn't feel an emotional connection to Emily or Ruarc...though we do get dual POV, which gives us their inner thoughts...I just feel like they didn't get emotionally as deep as I would have liked.

Even by the end I wasn't feeling like either character really had any deep or meaningful emotions, though they both said they did. Maybe if certain areas of the book had been drawn out more I would have felt more connected and like they were connected? I don't know.

Overall, though I didn't feel as connected as I would have liked...I did enjoy the story and look forward to reading more from the author.
