"There was a delicate, tenuous thread tying us together. If I moved, would it break?
__________
This read was again, not 100% what I expected, but it still turned out to be a great read! It also read very quickly and it did grip me from beginning until the end!
This is also my first "female rage" horror book I read. If all female rage troped books are like this one, I think I found a new favourite trope 😂
Ji-won was an amazing character. I can't really say I liked her much, but the depth of the character, the way she acted and reacted to stuff, how she handled certain situations,... I really enjoyed her as the main character in the book! Her relationships with her family, with George, Geoffrey and Alexis, they were all so interesting and I kept wondering what would happen and how things would turn out!
Now, onto the story of the book. It was absolutely WILD! How her obsession with eyes started was... Weird? And it just grew way out of proportion 😂 There were some absolute disgusting parts in the book where I cringed at what I read, but I wouldn't say the horror was very extreme! Yes, the parts with the eyes could get bloody and gorey, but there weren't many other moments where I would talk about horror.
The ending of the book? My mind was blown. Like, I thought I knew how things would play out, and part of it I knew, but still, there were stuff I never once thought about! It was so good and well thought out!
The writing was also incredible and all in all, I really enjoyed this book! I am happy we chose this one as our august read!
