Powerless by Elsie Silver

“Like for a man who knows loss so intimately, why would I ever set myself up to lose something so precious?”

Two childhood friends. Two broken hearts. One impromptu road trip to get away from everything. That’s all this was supposed to be. Afterall, I've been living in the friend zone for years now. But hockey heartthrob Jasper Gervais isn’t looking at me like a friend anymore. And he isn’t touching me like one either. To his fans, he’s the handsome, talented athlete on TV. But to me he’s still the lost boy with sad eyes and a heart of gold.

“Times have changed, Sloane. I’m not scared anymore. You’re not my fucking friend. You’re just mine.”

At this point, it's literally no surprise to anyone that I’m obsessed with Elsie Silver and the Chestnut Spring gang! I can just feel that this series is going to end up being a comfort series for me and I love that! Jasper’s backstory was honestly so heartbreaking but him being part of the Eatons warms my heart. I really loved Sloane, she goes from being a people-pleaser to someone who won’t put up with bs anymore, especially from men & I think that’s my favorite part of this book.

Note: check TW/CW! This book contains themes of death, grief and abandonment. These themes are not suitable for everyone.

This review was written honestly & voluntarily based on my own enjoyment of the book.
