Heartstopper Volume 1 by Alice Oseman

3.0

Another quick read at the third Silent Book Club Meeting (this one held at my favorite art museum), Heartstopper has been something I kept seeing in passing now and then for the last few months, and I decided to take the risk when a Barnes & Noble location in town was closing at the end of February, with a box set of Volume's 1-4 at half price.

While the storyline and art are both very simple, these two boys will so effortlessly worm their way straight into your heart. I haven't read Oseman's [b:Solitaire|20618110|Solitaire|Alice Oseman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1680269555l/20618110._SY75_.jpg|39901420], wherein our titular characters are first met years after the fact of the se events, but I'm curious to see where these volumes go, and then to maybe read where they first came in, too.

For now, I'm here in the beginnings of it all. In the terror of being abused by someone who never takes no for an answer, in the grief of falling for a straight boy, in the joy of such a queer-supportive family, in the gentle slide of how love can blossom from anywhere, and the tumultuous path of discovering a whole new side of yourself when the door of your sexuality opens a little wider than you ever knew yourself capable of.
