“The Hate U—the letter U—Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody. T-H-U-G L-I-F-E. Meaning what society give us as youth, it bites them in the ass when we wild out.”

The Hate U Give told us that the world that we live in is cruel, which we all probably have know about. Racism isn't a small thing that can be underestimated, that everyone lives matter. One of the best book I have ever read, FOR REAL. Although initially Starr was afraid to speak up because she knew no one will be on her side, she eventually fights for Khalil's justice in the best way possible and it's all described beautifully in the book. Like she said, and I quoted:

“That’s the problem. We let people say stuff, and they say it so much that it becomes okay to them and normal for us. What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?“

So that's what's she becomes, not being silent when she knows she shouldn't be. Beside the racism topic, I love the supportive Carter family and Starr's friends (although one of them ended up being someone she hated the most). It shows us family will always be there for us, and friendship has no race.
