Warrior's of Wind and Ash by Rebecca F. Kenney

dark

3.0

This is the second book in the series and I didn't love it as much as the first, but I still had a pleasant time reading it! Maybe pleasant isn't the right word. I enjoy certain characters, but this one got a little in the territory of things I don't go out of my way to read. The events of book one lead to Serylla being taken away from our beloved dragon shifter. Our new enemy is giving Tomas from Reign vibes ESPECIALLY when he asks Serylla if she knows what a whipping boy is. I knew from that moment I was really gonna hate this man.

Much like a lot of the books I have read from Rebecca these themes get so very dark. This is basically Serylla getting constantly abused, but at least she wasn't SA'd right? <--that's a joke. a poorly made one. Heavily laden sarcasm if you will.

At times this book was very hard to read when it came down to things Serylla had to go through. Where book one was quirky, curious, and albeit a little hot book two comes with a lot of not-so-fun times.

Of course, the ending still makes me eager for the next one.
