A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
5.0
What a delightful read! I love when a writer can do so much with a book with such a simple story.
And Ove, where do I even start with him. I saw him as a gray character rather than the hero of the book. He had flaws, some darker than one would want in a real person (like letting a cat freeze and die under the snow), but in all, he manages to touch you and keep you turning pages. What I loved about his character arc was how it was written. His transformation was so gradual, you could imagine the emotions shifting inside him. Such was the author's writing.
Backman's language embossed Ove's character off the pages and that really makes you want to meet Ove.
