I forgive insufferable, unlikeable, asshole-like characters. I don’t forgive boring ones. I feel like this book tries so hard to talk about certain themes (the patriarchy, power dynamics in all romantic relationships, queerness, centring men when analysing female desire, obsession, the human body vs the mind) but our narrator only ever scratches the surface of these discussions. This meant that it got to a point where the book felt repetitive, the same epiphanies reached on page 30 were reached again on page 100+.
