Men at Arms by Terry Pratchett

5.0

The second book in the City Watch series of Discworld novels, Men at Arms is an exciting, hilarious, charming mystery. The novel has a broad ensemble feel as we follow not just Sam Vimes but also Corporal Carrot and other members - new and old - of the Night Watch. The book gets off to a bit of a slow start but picks up the pace and becomes hard to put down near the end. The number of characters with scenes does mean that we don't get as deep on some as we could, but I still felt like I grew in understanding and appreciation for all the notable characters.
