Honestly I picked up this series thinking it would be one of the dystopianesque ones you find in charity shops but it’s actually so solid. I really like the world building and it was a really easy read, accessible high fantasy is probably how I would label it? I’m curious to see how the series develops because the second book was almost a prequel to the first, in the same world but different region and whole different set of characters. But politically you could see where events in the first book started and the development of the ‘big bad’ in the first book. And perks of liking a lesser known series? The books are literally £3 on eBay including postage 😎 I would argue that there is entirely too much focus on periods though, like go off for being one of the first in the genre not to hush hush it but I think I literally knew about every single period the MC had throughout the book 😭
