The Ruins of Us by Catharina Maura, Catharina Maura
4.0
Review for the series
Emilia and Carter meet when they were eight, when she trespass into his treehouse. Since that moment, him, his sister Kate and Milly have become friends, and inseparable.
This book explores their relationship.
This was unnecessary long. Instead of the three books, it could have been done in one, two max, divide in parts.
With three books, the story drag along too much. It had a lot of drama, a lot of miscommunication, a lot of toxicity. And it was very predictable. I new the story was gonna go there…
I have to say, I cried a lot. What Emily and Carter had to go through to get their HEA, was not for the faint of heart.
What Emily endure form everyone, her mom, her dad, Kate, Helen (Carter’s mom) and Carter himself… Jesus. And the last book, you could have made her stronger, and still she kept being meak. What I’m saying is that the character development was not really there.
Now Carter, he had a good character. That man was actually a good man.
Something that was weird to me was the spice. Like they had awkward sex in high school, but then I couldn’t see it in a different way, it was always weird to me…
If you want drama, and an emotional roller coaster, and like young adult, this is a good option for you.
Happy Readings
