Last Christmas by Queen T, Queen T

3.0

Last Christmas by Queen T is a spicy, drama-filled novella that’s as heartwarming as it is wild. It begins with Ginger, who, after being dumped via text by her boyfriend of three years on Christmas, finds herself in the arms of Holiday—a handsome, wealthy, and charming pilot. Their one-night stand is full of passion, with an agreement to leave it at that and never contact each other again. Fast forward to this Christmas, and Ginger is juggling a three-month-old baby and a life-changing secret.

This story is an insta-love tale about reconnecting with an old fling and navigating the complexities of merging families. Queen T explores themes like respectability politics and healing from family trauma, weaving them seamlessly into the narrative. The novella does an incredible job of building the tension and angst between Ginger and Holiday in the flashbacks, and the chemistry in those moments is palpable. However, I struggled to feel that same connection in their present-day scenes, which made it harder for me to fully buy into their rekindled love.

Despite this, I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. The drama, the stakes, and the emotional undertones kept me hooked. Last Christmas is perfect for readers who love a quick, spicy read with plenty of twists, tender moments, and a satisfying dose of family healing.
