I have spent a year trying to read this on and off and I’m so please I finally stuck at it and finished it! Once you let this book hook you, it’s a fab read, but I think the changing narrative voice makes it difficult to loose yourself initially. I recently lost a family member and the authors musings on death and letting people go really touched me- I love Lindqvist’s style and ideas but I definitely feel like this could have been fleshed out a little more. the ending felt very quick- and I’m glad I accidentally read the sequel already in his collections of short stories because otherwise I don’t think I would have been as satisfied with the ending. Overall I think it’s a really unusual look at the reality of what life would be like if the dead came back, and how people would or wouldn’t cope
