Guilt and Ginataan by Mia P. Manansala

This was another quick and entertaining read that perfectly fills my very specific need for cozy mysteries with POC characters, who are well-written and have a compelling narrative voice. The mystery was interesting even if not entirely complex, and I loved revisiting the big cast of characters.

A significant side plot revolves around the relationship between Lila, the protagonist, and her friend Elena. My one critique is that while the conflict between them was on the page, the resolution—or at least the honest conversation leading to it—happened off-page. If the story invests so much in the conflict, I would have loved to see the resolution play out on the page. Despite that, this was a fun read.
