After hearing all about Declan from booktok and my past experiences with most Lauren Asher books, I was hesitant to read this book. I grew tired of the morally grey billionaire type and was afraid Declan was another Alex Volkov or Christian Harper. I was dead wrong. Declan is obsessed with Iris in a “she understands my inner being and I can’t function properly without her, so I will do anything to make sure she shines” kind of way. Most billionaire romances I read with mortally grey mmcs are “she is a valuable thing that I own and NO man can come near her or else they will get a bullet wounds to the head”. I’m not that toxic anymore (unless it is absolutely needed). However I’m he’s still not my type in book boyfriend (shoutout to Iris for having a crush on Lauren Asher’s BEST MMC Santiago Alatorre). It was still cute how they knew each other’s inner workings and did their best to help them thrive.
