The October List by Jeffery Deaver
5.0
#12: PopSugar 2017: "A book with a month or day of the week in the title."
This was the first time that I read a Deaver novel. It was for the 2017 Pop Sugar Challenge "A book with a month or day of the week in the title." The audio version of this was weird. I couldn't handle the female narrator and almost put the book back on the shelf. However, once I started reading it and getting my head wrapped around it, I couldn't put it down. I read this book in less than a day.
The concept of a story in reverse is unique. I have watched "Momento" and knew I should have expected a major plot twist by Chapter 1. I knew something was fishy when Joseph sent a fake finger, and the "relationship" of Gabriella and Daniel was only days old. I could not believe what I was reading by chapter 3, 2, and 1. I was constantly flipping back to the 30s and seeing if things played out how they were planned in Chapter 1, because I was convinced after reading Chapter 36 that this book would have a sequel. How wrong I was.
Beautifully written, forces the mind to think differently, and was a fun read.
