Harry Bosch is back after an extended leave. He is partnered with two new people, Edgars and Rider. This case is one where the body is found in the trunk in the hills above an outdoor concert venue. "Trunk Music" because that is what it's called when the mob does a hit like this. Staged to look like a mob hit, it may be because the vic had mob ties. He was laundering money through his film production company.

Harry is put back in touch with Eleanor Wish, who comes under suspicion in Vegas when Harry travels there to see how the vic spent his final hours.

We meet some mob characters. Harry finds out his commander's dirty secret (Billets is having an affair with Rider). And he stumbles into an FBI placed agent and is threatened with losing his badge (but what else is new?).

Good story with some twists.
