SCUM Manifesto by Valerie Solanas

3.0

This is an incredibly interesting bit of writing, but you HAVE to read medical classifications of women from pre-1900 for it to make sense. I can't stress that enough.

Initially taught it in the context of 'Solanas shot Warhol, was likely a paranoid schizophrenic, and caused an awful lot of strife in the 70s feminist scene' it can seem like needless agitprop, but when you consider that actual Aristotle calls women aborted attempts to create men, her angle makes a lot more sense.

Also my love of Andrea Long Chu peeks through here so this is in a way also a recommendation to read Females as a way of understanding Solanas, especially through a trans lens.
