Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory
4.0
Delightful; I loved this book. It was so easy to slip into the story, and it was a perfect low-stakes book where I could forget the world while reading it. It happened a few times when I forgot I was reading a book. It is not common for me to pick up a book revolving around middle-aged main characters, where I am younger than the main character's daughter; however, Viviane and Malcolm are young at heart, and I adored them both from the beginning.
Jasmine Guillory makes it very easy for the readers to create emotional attachments to the characters so you feel as if you know them well, which I found interesting when it came to confident choices made by the characters, I'm sitting on my couch going, "Oh, Viviane would not like it if Malcolm just altered everything in her schedule, I hope he didn't do that." GUESS WHAT, HE DID IT. But what I did like that was different is so many things that would have been in a young adult couple book that would've caused an issue, they were able to solve quite quickly, mainly, I guess, to show the maturity of the characters. The one part I didn't like was Malcolm blowing up on his nephew, but after it was explained, I understood where he was coming from.
Overall, it was a great feel-good book, especially if you love a London boy, like me and Taylor Swift; it fed my internal love for One Direction fanfiction. Malcolm is a wholesome lad, and I want nothing but the best for this fictional couple. I love Jasmine's books and will read more of them.
