As someone who has read Lady of Darkness and Throne of Glass, I was prepared for this to be a copy of either of those. I am happy to say I was wrong. Although, elements felt similar, the overall storytelling and plot were very different at least in book 1. I REALLY enjoyed this book. I feel like the heartbreak of the FMC was palpable. Honestly, I feel in love with the FMC and her story.

The love story with Brenna was so sad. The addiction felt real. Her struggles with coming to terms with the destruction was described well.
