I personally think that this is a very solid debut book. I usually enjoy my historical romance to be lighthearted and for the character's actions to have 0 to very little consequences. But! I really enjoyed the more serious setting in this one. The whole story was just very interesting and immersive. The spice level wasn't quite as high as I would prefer, but it was still enjoyable and I was so interested in other parts of the story that I didn't mind it that much. All in all, this was a very pleasant read. ❤️
