The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

3.5

Update: changed rating from 4 to 3.5. Honestly, was it really THAT mindblowing?

If 'The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', a happier version of '13 Reasons Why', 'The Butterfly Effect' and the quote 'Happiness Only Real When Shared' from Into the Wild had a baby... this would be it. And I LOVED IT!

I thought I hated this book at first, I found it hard to get into and didn't like the she-perspective as it made it harder to use my imagination. I thought it was gonna be depressing and horrible, like 13 Reasons Why, but it really wasn't like that at all!

Page by page, the book grew on me and as the storyline progressed I just fell in love with it. Loved the philosophy references as well. Would highly recommend this book!

Also: the movie has SO much potential to become amazing, and I really really hope they're taking notes from the cinematography in 'The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', because it'd fit the story perfectly. Can't wait for it to come out.
