When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
3.0
I just don’t get the hype with this one. There were some parts I liked where I found myself smiling listening to this while riding my bike and I also liked that there was a lot of cultural stuff in it.
BUT the story was all over the place. First there was the app contest, then randomly there was a talent show, then they were all of a sudden done with the app. The instalove was too much, a lot of things and conversations were too unrealistic (Isabelle after the talent show, the thing with Rishi’s brother and Celia), Dimple could be so annoying and mean, Rishi changing 360. Also at the last 100 pages it looked like the author all of a sudden decided to put ‘life lessons’ and ‘memorable quotes’ into the book and it just sounded fake and dumb. They didn’t fit the moment or the character saying it.
So nope, not for me.
