The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

5.0

Fresh, different, sad, beautiful. This was the kind of book you read a lot, then have to stop and savor the language of the line or the unexpectedness of it because it is simply perfection. It feels a bit sci-fi at times, but if you just believe the story for what it is, you can sympathize more, understand more, why the people make the decisions they do.
This is one complex family.
