The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5.0
So I saw this book on Booktok like many other readers and it sat on my list for a while. A friend of mine read it and raved about it so I decided to give it a chance and my god it did not disappoint. I laughed, cried, and got super mad, and it made me have empathy for a character at the same time that I hated them. It dives deep into the political and social background of the 50s through the 80s and talks candidly about the trials and tribulations of women who strived to be starlets during the age of Hollywood post silent films. It makes all these celebrities feel more human than we let out.
