This is my second Claire Keegan book and it has a lot of the qualities that I enjoyed in that first book. That is that Claire Keegan has a capability to create incredibly vivid lives of individuals and places within a very short span.
One of the things I enjoyed about this book is how it investigates the mundanity of gender roles and how they function in everyday life. By that I mean that this book is not a massive and wide-spanning book investigating the intricacies of patriarchy but rather the way it often manifests in day-to-day lives.
