The Boyfriend Candidate by Ashley Winstead
4.0
A lot of fun! Alexis is looking for a one-night stand (for the first time ever) and picks up Logan at a hotel bar. They're then pictured evacuating the hotel during a fire, turns out he's a politician with a reputation as a womanizer, they must fake-date, et cetera, et cetera. This was my first Ashley Winstead, and I did have a good time! There was a little too much nonsense for it to be a real 5 star read for me - for the life of me, I cannot figure out why he needed to have the background to give him a British accent (nor can I figure out why his mother needed to specifically be Belarusian, nor what a Texas-British accent hybrid might be), and I thought the love triangle plot was so unnecessary and poorly worked in. Who slept where at the bachelorette party???? I must know!! . Still, just a real delight and right up my alley, politically.
Thank you HarperCollins and Edelweiss for the ARC!
