I was in a mood for some action packed thriller when this newest instalment in the Jack Reacher adventures reached me in the mail – and I immediately picked it up; hoping that it would be the one which would be help me out of a reading slump I was slowly falling into.

And it did its job – wonderfully!

Jack Reacher is travelling on a bus when he lands in a nondescript small town in  America – especially when his people reading skills help him to save an old man, Aaron Shevick from a mugging. A hand of help later, allows Jack Reacher to meddle in rather a sticky situation for the Shevick’s, especially once he finds out that they are in debt with the mob!

This “nondescript” town is run  equally by the Ukrainian and the Albanian mob – two mobs that are in an uneasy truce, especially once they find out there will be a new Police Commissioner in town.


With a whole lot of PoVs for the readers to enjoy; and unravel – it doesn’t take long for Jack Reacher to understand that there is a whole lot of going on within the town mechanisms than just a loan shark business. This time, he finds help with Abby, a waitress in the mob run bar who helps him at the start; and then later on becomes his partner in helping out the Shevicks.

Blue Moon has a strategy based plotline – that is, it is a lot drier than the previous Jack Reacher books I had enjoyed. But this also didn’t mean that there were twists and turns – there were, EXACTLY like the previous adventures.

If you have been a fan of this series and the protagonist like I have been, then this should be an instalment you should pick up – its one that his fans will definitely enjoy getting lost in. But if you are new to this series; then I honestly would recommend that you pick up an earlier book, it would be a far better introduction to Jack Reacher!
