This book was unlike anything I’ve ever read, and a perfect follow-up to I Who Have Never Known Men. I will say that although the writing was beautiful, I couldn’t help but feel very distant from the characters. There was something I didn’t understand about them and their world that created a mental blockade between me and the book. I was always consciously reading the tale, and I prefer to get so lost inside a book that everything around me disappears. Loved Dolores and loved the schoolmasters disgusting little project, though.
