As an anthropologist, this book scratched an itch.
Any book that talks about other cultures and repatriation - Perfection. 👌 "You cannot live in the universe without leaving footprints."
The book gods be praised! A main character who's in their thirties!
History is always written by the victors, and who's ever telling the story will tell their version of it. Kitasei did a fantastic job in this book with that concept, so while reading, you really never know who the "bad guy" is.
This was a great ride from start to finished. It calls itself a heist book, but the heist is a very small part of this huge twisty plot. There's so much more to this book. The emotions I felt during this. I'm not sure if you can get through part of it without tearing up a little bit. I loved all the characters. There's a little taste of found family in this book.
The plot had a ton of different twists. I never really saw any of them coming. The pacing of this book was great. There was a lot of action and a lot of downtime, but it just balanced itself so well throughout the whole book. I loved the different species of this book. Normal space books have humanoid types of aliens, and this one just went off the wall completely different from us. It was great that Kitasei used different pronouns throughout the book, not just for humans but also for different species of aliens as well.
