Tough read emotionally (very realistic portrayal of a manipulative and abusive parent) but loved it absolutely! Has the comedy of manners of a regency novel, the wit of Kingfisher's romances and the darkness of her horror all twisted up in the adventure of two women, one very young and one old, dealing with magical but all too common evil. I wanted to reread it almost immediately
