Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

5.0

I’m super sad that I’ve finished this book. Biographies and memoirs are my jam and this one is probably the best I’ve ever read. It’s certainly been the most fascinating. What Steve Jobs lacked in humanity, he made up for (at least in my opinion) in the contributions he made to the world of technology. As I listened to the audiobook I kept feeling like I should really dislike him, but even with all of his faults I couldn’t hate him. I felt a lot of pity for him in certain aspects of his life and great admiration in others. I found myself Googling old Apple ads and pictures, commercials, and even YouTubing the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and his commencement speech at Stanford in 2005. He had such an uncanny way of predicting what people wanted even before they knew they wanted it and it was his vision more so than engineering abilities that made him so successful. This book was such a fascinating and emotional ride and if you haven’t read it, it’s definitely worth it.
