Ryker (M) & Lennon (F): Not what I thought it would be
When I read Stalker Romance, I have the mindset that there will probably contain dubcon and most likely, there will be an element of violence. This book contained neither. This threw me.
Ryker and Lennon were high school misfits who were attracted to each other but never had the nerve to act on it. Ryker saved her from a bully but that was their only interaction.
Four years later, we find that neither of them forgot each other. However, while Lennon went on to date, attend college and try to follow her dreams at being a clothing designer, Ryker spent his time literally stalking Lennon. He became consumed by watching her to keep her safe. When Lennon finds out he has been the one behind the notes and gifts left for her over the years, she isn't angry but is... flattered?! Not the typical response of a woman finding out she has been watched and followed for four years. They then begin to build a sweet relationship with each other.
While reading this book, I had to constantly look back to see if I stumbled upon a YA book by mistake. The actions of Lennon were a little too passive for me. Ryker's anxiety was a little over the top as well, as they seemed to be a switch he flicked off and on at will. Further, his constant paranoia that Lennon was going to leave him every time she offered a little criticism to him and his actions were very annoying.
Nevertheless, it was a sweet, "safe" story with an HEA and a bonus epilogue provided free by the author if you care about this couple and want more of the mushy stuff.
Happy reading!
