Fuuuck.
This was so fucking angsty and beautiful.
I swear these books just continue to get better as they continue the series.
The world building, the politics, the overreaching darkness that’s worrying the people on Dakkar. It’s all so engrossing. I want to know about all of it. I want answers.
And then there’s the relationship that grew in this book. It was so heartbreaking for most of it.
Rowin is so damaged from his childhood, so weary where Mina is concerned. He has a terrible time coming to terms with his feelings. It was hard to read. Mostly because tears kept blurring my damn vision throughout it.
Obviously, check TWs before reading this. I’d say it’s a good idea to check TWs before reading any of this series. This one in particular had kidnapping, some torture, abuse of all kinds, mention of the loss of a child, mention of the loss of a mother, and violence, of course. It was an angst filled read for sure.
But I think it was all worth it. Watching these two characters grow together was wondrous. Their connection is deep, and when they find the strength to trust in it and show it, it’s beautiful.
I just loved this book. I’ve loved all of the books in this series. I can’t even say which is my favorite because they are all so different and complex, they bring their own unique thing to the table.
Just like I left the last book, I can’t wait to see what’s next for Dakkar. I can’t wait to see who’s next to find his Morakkari, and what struggles they’ll face, how they’ll grow.
I can’t wait to see some answers finally arise about that darkness that’s been spreading through Dakkar and how they will come together to push it back.
Im just so freaking excited to see what comes next.
This was such a good addition to the series and I’ll be impatiently awaiting the next book.
