Oh boy. This was a great sequel and addition to the Amari Peters series. It had a lot of Harry Potter #5 and Series of Unfortunate Events vibes with a new character named Harlowe acting as our resident Umbridge/Count Olaf. For a hot minute I was confused about the pacing of the plot in relation with the Great Game but once I looked past that and kept reading, I understood what the author was going for. Love the characters and the heartbreaking ending of this book. Can’t wait to read the third book!

Reread Edit: Harlowe sucks and we don’t like her. Amari deserves better. Poor thing just keeps going through it.
