Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews

emotional funny tense fast-paced

5.0

Edit: So I reread this (and I'm currently rereading the second one) before starting the third. This time I listened to it on Audobook. It's read by Renee Raudman. I liked her narration well enough but I found her speaking a little too slow. I also thought her southern accent was more jarring than immersive but overall I enjoyed it. The previous review still applies.

This cover is atrocious and does nothing for the story inside. As usual, Andrews delivers with a thrilling plot and characters that jump off the page. I legitimately couldn't put this book down.

I love Nevada Baylor. She's independent, caring, and stands up for what she believes in. Her snappy dialogue and narration was a joy to read. I loved seeing her family and how she interacted with them. I hope we get more of her family in the next book. Mad Rogan was interesting and there were a lot of parts I desperately wished were from his point of view just to see what he was thinking. He's enigmatic and I can't wait to get to know more of him as well.

Overall, the plot was super interesting and fast paced. Just what I want in any urban fantasy novel. Less than a week until the next book and I cannot wait.
