Dark Shroud by Daniel Beazley
3.0
Update: *3.5 stars* because it's my fave of the series!
This was SO MUCH better than the first book, Eventide, and I actually ended up enjoying it a lot! I'm finally starting to like and care about the characters - although I have to admit that I like Lucius more than Sepherene.
There were pretty cool action scenes and the writing style improved as well, I think. The author described everything perfectly and very detailed. Some scenes were pretty digusting and I even felt sick while reading them, ugh. I had no problem picturing the scenes and was really curious about what would happen next.
Now I'm actually excited to read the next book, Night's Shadow, and hope we'll get some answers to all those new questions. Not even the long chapters bother me that much anymore, and that says a lot! I can only recommend giving it a chance, even though the first book was a bit slow and weak - this one is definitely better! ;)
